Vista Users - Editing Your "Hosts" File

To access your hosts file, please follow the following steps:

1. Click on the Start icon at the bottom left of your screen
2. Select "All programs"
3. Select "Accessories"
4. Right-click Notepad
5. Select "Run as Administrator"
6. It will ask for your permission, click Yes.
7. Select "File", then "Open"
8. Go to "Computer from list on left
9. Open your "C" drive
10. Open the "Windows" folder
11. Open the "System32" folder
12. Open the "Drivers" folder
13. Open the "etc" folder
14. If the "etc" folder appears empty, look at the lower right of the window and change from "txt files" to "All files"
15. Double click on the file named "hosts"

To edit the Hosts file:

1. You will likely see several lines that begin with "#"
2. Following that should be a line that says "127.0.0.1       localhost"
3. Place your cursor at the end of that line and hit "enter"
4. Type in your IP address for your website and email server: 208.112.91.199
5. Hit the tab button at the end of the numbers and then type: www.domainname.com (use your domain name instead of "domainname")
6. Hit the tab again, and re-type your website without the www at the beginning.
7. If your email is hosted with us, then press tab one more time and type: mail.domainname.com (again using your real domain name).
8. Go to File > Save, and then close the window.
9. That's it!  You are finished!
